This time it wasn't Mike. I recognize his footsteps, his scent, the way he rings the bell — and this was nothing like that. It was my own human who came home with a box under his arm, wearing that "I have a secret" face that's obvious from a mile away. Max, as always, got there before me to sniff it. The box said "TalkPaw" with a paw print painted next to it. Sounded promising.

 
 
 
 

Inside were buttons...

Lots of buttons, in different colors, each with a word underneath. Orange, purple, yellow, blue, green, pink... Max started sniffing them all at once, as if that would tell him something. I, more methodical, waited for my human to show us how it worked.

Honestly, at first we were very confused

He recorded a word on each button. "Play." "Food." "Water." "Outside." At first I thought it was a joke — me, pressing buttons like some kind of hotel receptionist? But the moment Max accidentally pressed "Play" and saw my human grab the ball instantly... let's just say we both got the hang of it fast.
